The Angry Pony is Back

Posted by Matthew Bryant on

At the 2019 NAIAS (North America International Auto Show), Ford finally revealed the return of the meanest Mustang ever: the Shelby GT500.  She literally descended from the sky onto the showroom floor. Her entrance was graceful, but she came packing some serious heat: a supercharged 5.2 V8 engine producing 700+ horsepower, and what is rumored to be 600+ lb-ft of torque.  Power will flow through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (no manual?!), which is said to shift as quick as the Porsche’s PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplungs getriebe which is basically a double clutch transmission).   A track package with carbon fiber pieces will be offered as well.  It was good to see Ford ready to compete in the pony wars again. Better watch your back Chevy and Dodge.
